U.S. Masters Swimming
The U.S. Masters Swimming program is coming back to the Rouse Center!
Starting Wednesday, May 1st, group workouts will be run on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:15 am – 7:30 am and members are invited to join at no cost. To participate, swimmers must be able to swim 50 yards freestyle, but competitive swimming experience is not required. We welcome all who are 18 years or older who want to get in a good workout!
Workouts will be designed to start at 6:15 am and will start with about 15-minutes of warm-up that is done individually. Swimmers will then group up and complete sets together, but three different workout levels will be available. Below is an example of a modified set for all three groups:
4x100s on 1:40, descend 1-4
4x75s on 1:40, descend 1-4
4×50’s on 1:40, descend 1-4
Workout distances will vary, but the Blue workouts will average 2500-3000 yards, White workouts will average 1800-2200 yards, and Red workouts will average 1000-1500 yards. You do not have to commit to swimming the entire time; it’s okay to join in the workout at any point and it’s okay to leave early if necessary.
Our goal is to generate interest and have the program grow from 2 workouts/week to include different days and times.
